As we pack up the fireworks and polish off another round of leftover hot dogs and hamburgers, it marks the end of phase one of the summer camping season. But exiting phase one doesn't mean it's over, it's actually very far from over.

We dove back in to Kampgrounds of America Inc.'s 2023 North American Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report to give you a mid-season refresher on what this year could still bring and how your campground can meet the needs and wants of those last minute summer vacation planners.  

Time is flying by as we are now at the 6-month mark of 2023.  And fly in we did, in the first week of June to Washington, D.C. with a very focused National ARVC delegation for meetings with nearly 50 key Members of Congress and their staff on the “Hill”.  We also joined our partners at RVIA for the annual RV’s Move America week.

Each year, a focused National ARVC delegation, joined by their partners at RVIA, attend Advocacy Day, in Washington, D.C., a time aimed for the team to address crucial issues affecting businesses in the outdoor hospitality industry. This year, National ARVC scheduled meetings outside the parameters of Advocacy Day, transforming the time on Capitol Hill into a full week of meetings instead of a single day.

The National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (National ARVC) will host Kindra Hall, the go-to expert for storytelling in business and beyond as the 2023 Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo (OHCE) Keynote speaker. Hall will give her keynote address Nov. 7 at National ARVC’s OHCE2023 in Kansas City.

Campground owners know that movies and TV are a valuable amenity to their guests.  From outdoor “cinema under the stars” to simply offering a TV for a rainy day, audiovisual content is a great bet for all ages. 

Firefly Reservations founder Bradly Adams saw a problem, so he created a solution. 

Bradly and his brother Clay started a 10-site campground in 2017. The campsite was a success, but the brothers had full-time jobs. To be able to handle all the administrative work that comes with running a campsite, they were going to need a comprehensive and easy-to-use computer reservation system. However, Bradly found himself faced with options that were inefficient, out-of-date, or too expensive. Most importantly, they weren’t built with campground owners in mind.
