The outdoor hospitality industry has lost an icon and all who knew him have lost a friend. David L. Berg (1957-2021), co-owner of Red Apple Campground in Kennebunkport, Maine, along with his wife, Jane, passed away suddenly at his winter home in Florida on Wednesday, February 3. Jane was by his side.
If you’re thinking of getting into the campground business or are already in the process of buying or building a park, wouldn’t it be great to tap into the expertise of those who have done this before? Now you can, by participating in ARVC’s one-day Prospective Owners Workshop (POW). Here’s what you need to know about this powerful educational program:
When Jen and David Svenson bought ARVC member-park Riverbend RV Park & Cabins in Montrose, Colo. last February, it was a mom and pop, cash-only business without a website. They jumped right in and made significant changes, including demolishing an old fishing house and constructing a new office, laundry room, bath houses, a private suite and dog park. They also created a website, acquired a reservation system, upgraded the electrical service and added fiber optic wi-fi service. And that was all in the first 6 months! Then they came up with a new plan.
If you’ve ever considered attending the National School of RV Park and Campground Management, now is the time to get the advanced education you need. The ARVC Foundation is offering scholarships for this high-quality educational program.
Camping, like other outdoor activities, comes with inherent risks—dangers can arise from encountering uneven terrain, natural bodies of water, features of nature such as tree stumps or roots or other elements of the natural world. Even so, some campers have filed lawsuits against campground owners to try to assign blame for injuries that arise from these inherent risks that are beyond the campground owners’ control.
When you are building or expanding your park, knowing how to use business insurance to your advantage will help you achieve your goals and avoid major headaches. Here are five areas you will want to address:
The RV industry is being called the safest way to travel and the glamping megatrend continues. To facilitate park expansion, Business Finance Depot is offering ARVC members the following two financing opportunities to prepare for the expansion.
