Campers love themed activities. It's a tried and true method for getting guests to your campground and excited about participating in something as a group. The comradery it builds and the memories they make are priceless. But how do you decide what's worth celebrating? And how can your activities stand out? There's plenty of room for the classics like the 4th of July and Halloween, but consider adding some of these celebrations to your campground calendar this year and building activities around them. 

Hot Sauce Day (January 22)

Partner with a local restaurant to have a hot sauce tasting on site. And why not make it a challenge? The people who try the hottest of hot sauces get entered into a drawing for a free stay!

Puzzle Day (February 29)

Scavenger hunts, escape games, murder mysteries, the possibilities are limitless for this celebration.

Pi Day (March 14)

Although this day technically celebrates the mathematical pi, take it literally and have your own pie day! A pie-eating contest is more than appropriate.

National Grilled Cheese Day (April 12)

A grilled cheese making contest is in order. Who's got the cheesiest recipe? Or why not invite a grilled cheese food truck on site and host a cheese festival? Cheese heads welcome!

Look Up at the Sky Day (April 14)

There's no better time to bring in a local astronomer to do a stargazing presentation.

Star Wars Day (May 4)

There are enough Star Wars movies and television to watch a movie every night of the month! Star Wars day is the perfect time to show one of the classics and take advantage of your National ARVC member exclusive 20% discount on a Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) licensing. 

Scavenger Hunt Day (May 24)

You can't go wrong with the simple celebration here. A scavenger hunt!

National Get Outdoors Day (June 10)

This day is part of a month-long U.S. celebration of the outdoors and the benefit of spending more time there. It's the perfect time to partner with local outdoor activity groups to plan group kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, and more for campers. 

National Go RVing Day (June 11)

Why should homes with foundations get all the celebration? Host an RV Tour at your park and offer those campers who participate a discount!

International Day of Yoga (June 23)

It's the perfect chance to plan a wellness weekend. Partner with a local gym and host a yoga festival or offer morning classes for campers. 

Dog Appreciation Day (August 26)

All pet owners want to show off their fur babies. Have a dog parade, partner with a photographer and set up a doggy photo booth, or even plan a dog Olympics! 

Taco Day (October 4)

Taco truck on site. Full stop.

First Responders Day (October 28)

Touch-a-Truck events are always big fun for kids. Partner with your local first responders to celebrate them and host a touch a truck for kids to get a chance to learn more about the service first responders provide to our communities.

Take a Hike Day (November 17)

Partner with your local scout troop to lead a hike at a nearby or on-site trail. It's a great way to get campers who are nervous about trying hiking but love camping
